About

I’m a retired ASE Master Auto Technician. I currently write a monthly auto repair column for a major consumer publication. I stay current on the latest auto repair issues. But, since five different auto technicians can give you ten different opinions about any auto repair, consider this entire blog and simply my opinion. Always go with the advice of your trusted auto mechanic.

My muffler is broken but I had it welded. It doesn’t sound as good as it used to but I think I can bear with that. My concern is that does a broken muffler eat more gas than usual? The part that was welded was the tube that connects to the hollow fat cylinder.
